Prickly pear seed oil is made from the seeds of the beautiful fruit of the Opuntia ficus-indica plant. Native to Southern and Central America, prickly pears have been used medicinally for centuries by the Aztecs and Native Americans to cure wounds and treat burns.

Prickly pears are a hardy crop, but labour-intensive to grow, with pruning and harvesting carried out all by hand. After the fruit is picked and processed only 5% oil can be extracted from the seeds. About one tonne of fruit is needed to get a single litre of oil. Additionally, each step takes a considerable time. This is why prickly pear oil is considered such a rare and expensive beauty commodity.

Even though prickly pear seed oil is not well known in South Africa, we want to introduce local women to our prodigious beauty oil packed with a multitude of skin-healing ingredients.
